The Importance of Mindful Acclimatization on the Way to Everest Base Camp (EBC)
One of the most crucial aspects of the EBC trek for beginners is acclimatization. So bring along water purification tablets or a filter. It’s also worth taking a thermos to keep your drinking warm in the cold weather.
You should carry a water bottle you can use easily throughout the day and take a few sips of water each time. A daypack makes this convenient. Carry water also to ensure that you have enough in an emergency. Get a proper one rather than just filling an empty plastic bottle.
Porters and Guides, It’s Worth Having One
If you are a beginner, the EBC trek can be physically demanding so you might be glad to have a porter and/or guide. While some trekkers prefer to go independently, a local guide or porter can make your trek safer, more enjoyable, and less stressful.
A porter is responsible for carrying your heavier items — things like clothes and sleeping bags. This lightens the load on your body and allows you to concentrate more on walking with comfort at your own pace. Moreover, the porters are familiar with the route and can provide logistics support.
